A Lot of chinese brand's are trying to copy the xiaomi's mix which is infact a premium bezel-less phone. MI Mix is quite expensive in compared to these copies which just cost around $200 buck's only and offers a bezel-less experience. well, u won't find great specs in this phone but they serve you a display with no bezels that makes the phone different from other phones in the market. now, there are a lot of cheap bezel-less phones availabe in the market and doogee mix is one of them. But is it worth the purchase?
ummmm..... let's find out
SPECIFICATIONS-
Doogee mix packs the following feature's-
5.5-inch Super AMOLED display
- Helio P25 Octa-Core 2.5GHz
- 64GB storage (expandable with a MicroSD card)
- 4/6GB LPDDR4x
- Android 7.0
- Dual rear-facing cameras (16MP main camera, with a 8MP secondary camera)
- 5MP front-facing camera
- Fingerprint reader (which also doubles as a back button
well, the specs too are great offered at this price alongside it's massive bezel-less display which you might find like the samsung infinity display. Not that similar, but quite oofers good at it's price.
ALL ABOUT THE SCREEN-
The Doogee Mix’s unique selling point is its screen, which is as close to being completely borderless as you’ll get in a device at its price point. The screen measures 5.5-inches, while the bezels measure roughly 1mm. This gives it a screen-to-body ratio of 93-percent.
That said, bezelless-screen is only worthwhile if it’s any good. Personally, I found it to be a mixed bag. It’s gorgeously bright, and is eminently readable in bright weather.Unlike many phones of its stable, colors simply popped — they weren’t dull, although you wouldn’t know that from the photos. Feel free to blame the turgid, perennially-overcast British climate. The biggest downside is that it’s pretty low-resolution — at 720 x 1270, it’s not even full HD. At the price you’re paying, you should expect 1080p goodness, and the step-down is eminently obvious. (SOURCE- THE NEXT WEB)
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE-
The Doogee Mix runs on the android 7.0(nougat) and offers a lot of customiztion options which can be turned off to get smooth stock android like feel's.
The Doogee Mix is pretty much stock Android 7.0 — which is a relief. However, it seems Doogee couldn’t resist adding a few extras. It comes with a set of animated backgrounds, which I feel are a little bit distracting.\
Swipe right from the homescreen, and you’re taken to a news feed app, which pulls stories. There’s also a little floating widget, which lets you put the phone in all sorts of different modes. Read Mode keeps the screen on at all times, for example, while Game Mode disables the menu and back key, in order to prevent you from inadvertently bailing from what you’re playing.
It is powered by Helio P25- which boost 8 core's is somewhat acceptable with this phone beacause of the features and it's display it offers at it's low price.Helio P25 with 4 GB or 6GB of ram may not problem you in light work's with it. Playing games on the bezel-less display is very interesting but it may lag in some high end games like asphalt8 ( not every-time).
CAMERA-
Dogee mix offers a dual setup camera , at this price point the camera of this phone is like just servicable. not that bad and bnot that amazing too. The device has two rear shooters that's set up like the iPhone 7 Plus/Xiaomi Mi 6/OnePlus 5: meaning the second lens is a so-called "telephoto" lens that can take photos at 2X zoom.
Much like the iPhone and OnePlus 5, I found the 2X zoom to be mostly a marketing gimmick: it's really a digital zoom, not an optical zoom. And just like those other phones, the Doogee Mix can also take bokeh shots, but the software often outputs some very poor results. I wouldn't mind that the phone's secondary camera gimmicks are half-baked if the main shooter (16-megapixel) is good, but it is average at best, and that's comparing solely to other budget devices.( SOURCE- FORBES)
The secondary camera doesnt work's like it's any software problem which the Doogee would enable via any future update's.
The Mix's camera app is well designed, with the usual features you'd expect from a Chinese phone, like a beautifying mode and pre-set filters.
The manual control interface is easy to use.Incidentally, the Doogee’s camera app comes with a ‘blur’ feature which uses software trickery to create the same effect.Typically, a phone’s selfie-snapper is positioned on the top-right, right next to the earpiece. But obviously, due to the form-factor of this device, this is a non-starter.So, Doogee has decided to place it at the bottom-right corner of the device, right next to the fingerprint reader. This felt strongly reminiscent of the awkward webcam placement on the InfinityEdge monitors, found on Dell’s XPS and Precision laptops.
FINAL VERDICT-
It's not a recommended phone but it's standout feature is it's bezel-less display which offers quite much for it's price.t just doesn’t feel natural, having to flip the screen 180-degrees every time you want to take a selfie. Similarly, the positioning of the front-facing camera makes it all-but impractical for video calling (unless you hold the phone in a super-awkward fashion). Phone looks good too in the hand and you can purchase it if you want and want to experience what's using a bezel-less phone.t just doesn’t feel natural, having to flip the screen 180-degrees every time you want to take a selfie. Similarly, the positioning of the front-facing camera makes it all-but impractical for video calling (unless you hold the phone in a super-awkward fashion).
On the bright side, if you look past the display, you end up with a decent handset at a compelling pricetag.
Even, if you dont want to but this phone, it indincates that soon it would be normal having bezel-less screen's in almost every price tag whether it's cheap or premium like the samsung galaxy S8.If you’re truly desperate for a bezelless phone, the Mix absolutely fits the description, and it does it at an unfathomably low price point.
There’s also the Maze Alpha, which boasts similar specs, as well as the ultra-pocket friendly Bluboo Edge, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy S8.That said, competition is heating up. Earlier this week, Hong Kong rival Elephoneopened up pre-orders the Elephone S8, which boasts a similar form-factor (with an awkwardly placed camera, too).
